Old Boat House, York

The Old Boathouse is a new private dwelling built on a difficult site to high sustainability standards. It is the second new home that CSP have designed for this client who are passionate about York and about well-designed houses.

The ground plan consists of two rectangles which are connected by a wedge-shaped circulation link. 

Internally the house balances light and shade and offers fantastic views, aided by its elevated position.

Externally, when approaching the site from the West via. the river, the railway or the cycleway this house forms a landmark at the corner of the urban core of York. It has been designed to give a modest but dramatic taste of York’s amazing rich and varied built environment while providing the ideal home for its occupants.
