Student Castle - Student Accommodation, York

The regeneration of a two acre site on Walmgate providing new office accommodation for The Press and unique city centre accommodation for York’s growing student population.

The student development creates 58 purpose-built student flats and 303 studio apartments (658 student beds), which will be owned and operated by Student Castle.

An existing building on Walmgate (known as 'Poads') is converted and extended to provide a modern working environment for the 100+ strong Press team ensuring that they maintain their city centre presence.

The scheme ingeniously maximises the potential of an under-used city centre 'brownfield' site. It reinvigorates the important Walmgate frontage with a new frontage building and includes the long overdue redevelopment of 'Wards' warehouse on Hurst's Yard.
